Site Optimisation

Site Optimization

When it comes to optimizing your website, there are 2 main focuses.  First your design needs to be optimized on three levels: function, interaction, and graphics. It is the goal to find the perfect integration of these three domains.  The second focus should lie on the technology, i.e. speed, searchability, and hosting.

Design optimization

The functional design is the schematic blueprint of a webshop. In the design an inventory and description of functionalities is made. In the interaction design, website navigation, web apps, funnels, and more will be defined to offer the best user experience possible. The graphical design defines the “look & feel” of the webshop. iGear provides you with a professional concept that goes in line with your requirements.

Technical optimization

The technological development is rapid, as anything continuously undergoes improvement in performance, user experience, and efficiency – to the advantage of your website’s findability. Especially web technology will become entirely ‘mobile’, for which reasons it has become necessary to optimize applications for tablets, smartphones, and wearables.

Site optimization is a core aspect of iGear’s approach. We analyse technical aspects of your website such as speed, quality and manner of coding, which we then use to offer an optimization plan. This way you can get the most out of your existing applications and gain a competitive edge.

The better the website, the more likely it is to establish a strong brand and rank high in search engines. It is our philosophy to always implement latest technological trends. This allows us to offer systems that are established in the scene. Most of the products we use are open-source, such as Drupal, Magento, and Symfony2.

We work with common platforms, languages, systems, and frameworks. This way we are able to eliminate technical errors on your website so that every platform and browser can perform in the best way possible. Moreover we offer servers that implement your website in existing distributed networks. These provide your website with maximum website speed and security and make it Google’s ‘preferred pick’ .

The combination of technology and online marketing led iGear to receiving 4 important awards issued by the International Web Marketing Association.

CMS: Customized Open Source

If an advanced CMS is necessary we usually apply Drupal 7. Depending on the specificity and use case we can also switch to other systems. For example when developing simple blogs and websites we use WordPress, while webshops are built using Magento, which is the most flexible, best performing and popular e-commerce solution. As a result of our expertise, we can customize these solutions according to your needs.

Frontend: Responsive, Interactive, & Compatible

For the surface we mainly use jQuery, and more complex solutions require Ember.js. To spare older browsers in the best ways possible, we further make use of Modernizr and HTML5Shiv. A quick start is achieved through implementing Initializr in combination with HTML5Boilerplate and Twitter Bootstrap. SASS, Stylizer en LiveReload provide your website with an efficient CSS management.

Backend: Stable and Quick Development

As described we use Drupal, WordPress, and Magento for CMS. In case further programming is required, we can adjust the systems by making use of our expertise in PHP and Python. For further customization common frameworks are applied. For instance we develop online applications with Symfony2 and Zend Framework as a toolbox. Our Big Data tools are mainly developed with Django and in some cases CakePHP.

Innovation: Be Competitive, Stay Competitive

Our technology research department is continuously looking for the next big thing in the web environment, which we often pinpoint in their early developmental stages. For this reason we are often also involved in their development by contributing our skills and knowledge. Currently we are following a number of developments, such as Drupal 8 and CakePHP 3. In addition we have started with the adoption of nginx, Zend Framework 2, and Node.js.
